Wolves' Christmas Gift Bonanza
So I ran into Wolves this morning for my coffee fix and yes, we all know that Wolves is a place where one can work, drink coffee, listen to good tunes and get drunk on good beer - but it is also a great place to buy Christmas gifts. One of the many reasons is to support LOCAL designers.
You can find Skerminkul enamelled sailing boat chains and swans in hearts brooches. You can find FRANKIE magazines from Australia that are full of awesomeness. You can even find some affordable art on the walls. There are pins (for around R80) by Hello Fox and Wolves mugs for R55 a mug. Now who wouldn't want one of those? Paper Jet has some journals and cards on offer, which is handy when present shopping. There are Wonderlusts keys, buttons and needles cast out of sterling silver on chains. And Genevieve Motley's pretty laser cut bambi's and etched wooden pretties. Not to mention that co-owner Shane Durrant is from the band Desmond and the Tutu's and there is an array of music to buy. Some of the CD's there are limited edition and make a great gift.
So in a last mad rush of Christmas present frenzy, get your asses down to Wolves on Thursday night. And the best thing is that if you are broke, there are always those delicious red velvet cupcakes to buy as gifts instead- even if they're a gift to yourself.
