Collector's Treasury Is A Bookworm's Delight

Collector's Treasury Is A Bookworm's Delight

If you love to lose yourself in a good book, go and get lost in this incredible second hand bookshop.

In the midst of the Joburg CBD is a place where book lovers can go to worship. Collector's Treasury is packed to the rafters with incredible finds - it literally houses almost 2million books. Being a Durbanite, and thus intrinsically afraid of the city centre, I probably would never have stumbled across this place on my own. Thank the book fairies that The Ginger is a man after my own heart when it comes to reading.

From second hand copies of your everyday novel for around R30 to first editions of classics like Peter Pan for R850, there's something for everyone here. And there's more than just books. You can pick up quirky little antiques, old postcards and actual records - like LPs, not CDs. For real.

Part of the fun is getting lost amongst all the haphazard piles and shelves of books and other goodies - give yourself a sizeable chunk of time just to look around. Luckily, given the sheer size of the shop, the books are categorised or you'd never know where to start. From history to cookery, gardening to fashion, biology to fiction, and everything in between, it's all there.
