Pieter Roos Park

Pieter Roos Park

The upgrade of the Pieter Roos park was one of the projects coming out of the Inner City Regeneration Charter. The charter, a strategic document drawn up by a range of affected and interested parties addressing the issues of urban regeneration and economic development, identified – among many other issues – the need to create high quality public spaces, with an emphasis on safety and security as well as infrastructure.

The 2008 upgrade of the public environment of Hillbrow, Yeoville and Berea was managed by the Johannesburg Development Agency, also responsible for the upgrades of Newtown; the Fashion and Diamond districts; and the Constitutional Court precinct.

The Hillbrow, Yeoville and Berea project saw 220 street blocks upgraded; the creation of high streets in Pretoria, Kotze and Rockey Streets; and five parks – including Pieter Roos – being revamped.

Pieter Roos Park is a public park in Parktown.
