The official count down to Comic Con Africa 2019 has begun! Reed Exhibitions and ReedPOP are weeks away from hosting the year's biggest and most interactive pop culture experience at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, allowing audiences to experience the best cosplay, comic books, anime, manga, video games, films and series the world has to offer between the 21st and 24th of September 2019.
Comic Con Africa 2019 will welcome an estimated 60,000 visitors, offering 160 hours of content across five halls including panels, competitions, seminars, and workshops.
With 250 exhibitors offering event specials on everything from gaming hardware and accessories, cosplay designers, apparel, pop-culture merchandise, comic and figurine collectables as well as various artists, authors and more, this is the place to gear up and geek out.
While there is still so much more to be announced, the 2019 line-up for Comic Con Africa already includes heavyweight stars like The Avengers' Anthony Mackie, AKA ‘The Falcon’. Fans are also eager to meet Isaac Hempstead Wright, better known as Bran Stark, one of the most recognisable characters from the multi-award winning series Game of Thrones. Acclaimed authors are attending, from Brian Azzarello, most notably known for his work on the Harvey and Eisner award-winning 100 Bullets series, to leading comic book writer, Donny Cates. Cates Is best known for Thanos, Doctor Strange, Interceptor, Star Trek, and Atomahawk among others. The duo Nolan North and Troy Baker are two voice over artists very well known to gamers. Nolan has voiced characters from the Uncharted series, Assassin's Creed series, Dota2 and Batman, and Troy has solidified his name as Joel In The Last of Us (a Game of the Year winner) and Bioshock Infinite. Autographs and photo opportunities abound.
On the gaming front Comic Con Africa has recently announced their Freeplay Gaming Zones, which if you can believe it is just one small part of their comprehensive gaming offering. ATK is bringing state of the art, cutting edge PC setups and racing SIMS that visitors can test run for themselves! Imagine getting your hands on that… Daily Nintendo tournaments with great prizes and opportunities from Red Bull to get noticed and compete internationally are also on the show floor, and don’t forget that’s just the beginning.
Audiences are in for a lot more than expected as they can engage with feature areas like Artist Alley (anyone want to commission their own DC artist’s poster?), Cosplay Central, Gaming, the Main Stage, LARPing, Tabletop Wargaming, Film and Series screenings, and the Writers Block. If you’re a fan, you WILL find your fandom at Comic Con Africa, not to mention new enthusiasts to share your favourite passions with.
