The Afrikaburn afterparty is here
'Afterglow' is the festival's official, Jozi-based afterparty

Suffering through a spot of Afrikaburn nostalgia? Or maybe you missed the festivities this year? For one night only, Jozi is going to come alive with magic and mischief, with colour and craziness, with decadence and delight, and – truly – with some of the sweetest tunes for miles. Afterglow is here and, as Jozi’s official AfrikaBurn after-party, the sparks are sure to fly.
This year’s party will be taking place on Saturday, 29 September at the Prop House @ The Skills Village 2030.
“We’ve used different corners of this magnificent spot before,” says Mickey Gerhard, one of the volunteers putting the event together, “but this year we’re opening it up completely. It’s a real rabbit hole of labyrinthine treats, and it’s going to offer two dance floors, two bars, and a chill lounge serving up whiskey, wine, tequila and live performances.”
This year’s line-up includes Miteinander Musik’s Luke Redford, fresh out of Switzerland, as well as the fantastic troublemakers from Jews for Techno, coming at you from the Mother City. Other artists include Tushimitsu from Mozambique, Ricky H from Cape Town, Mark Valsecchi and more.
“This is a not-for-profit event,” explains Mickey, “and all proceeds will go towards supporting the ongoing community outreach work of the Jozi Burner non-profit. Some of our beneficiaries include the Home of Hope, the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra Company, and the Reimagine Foundation.”
