Port Elizabeth-born Afro-soul singer Asanda Bam is out of hiding and back on stage at the LASA Sessions – Hard Rock Cafe this Thursday 16th May from 20:00. If this doesn’t excite you as a throwback to some of the best music ever made by a South African singer, we don’t know what will.
Bam made a name for herself performing with Joyous Celebration at age 19 then went on to back singers such as Tshepo Tshola, Thandiswa Mazwai, Oliver Mtukudzi, Gloria Bosman and Benin’s Angelique Kidjoe.
An awards nominee for her debut album Fragile. She performed at various festivals and TV shows. “I haven’t performed in a while, being invited to the LASA Sessions is such an honor, I cannot wait to put on a great show. I may just surprise people with some new sounds” commented Asanda.
“Asanda is one of the best vocalists we have in South Africa and to have her at the LASA Sessions is massive. We hope to hear new music too” commented Banda Banda – bassist and producer of the LASA Sessions.
LASA Sessions (Love All Serve All) are a weekly musical experience at the Hard Rock Cafe Sandton, a true celebration of African music. The shows have had a wide array of musicians, the likes of Nduduzo Makhathini, Brenda Mtambo, Msaki, Buhlebendalo, Berita, Zoe Modiga and MXO among others.
