Music, drinks, and a whole lotta art in the heart of the city

Nugget Square, located in the heart of downtown Jozi, will be opening the doors of its artist studios this Saturday 24 November for all to enjoy.
This is a great opportunity to view the artist studios at the same time while meeting the various artists who work in the energetic hub, many of whom tap into the creative energy of the city to create their work.
Come and view Gordon Froud’s new gallery and residency space as well as six floors of great art from a diverse range of emerging and established artists.
Vivien Kohler and Mandy Coppes-Martin’s studios will be open, allowing visitors to view works in progress as well as various experimental works, and while Sandile Radebe is currently on a Public Arts residency in India, visitors will be able to view selected works by the artist on Saturday. George Holloway’s metal sculptures will also be dotted all over the square or simply hanging from the roof of his studio.
Nugget Square will also feature the works of artists who are part of the family (having worked on and off at the Square) and so works by Robyn Field, Sarah Grace and Gina Waldman will all be on show. Elizaveta Rukavishnikova will have a full studio as she is currently working towards her second solo, titled Code Request at Braamfontein’s Kalashnikovv Gallery, opening on the 6th December.
JHBLive and Mathroom (Fred Clarke) will be providing the beats all day long, and refreshments will be served.
The Open studio will run from 11am until 11pm on Saturday 24 November at 131 Albert Street, Marshalltown Johannesburg. Contact Gordon Froud on 0844238635 or Mandy Coppes Martin on 0823214705 for more information. Safe, off-street parking is available in the Square.
