48 Hour Film Project

48 Hour Film Project

                             Posted: May 11 2010

The 48 Hour Film Project is a wild and sleepless weekend in which a team of filmmakers make a movie — write, shoot, edit and score it — in just 48 hours!

All creativity — writing, shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack — occurs in a 48-hour window beginning Friday evening at 7pm and ending Sunday at 7pm. The teams won't know what genre (thriller/comedy etc) they will be shooting until the start of the competition. After the films are complete, they are shown in a local theatre and judged.

The project was founded by Mark Ruppert in DC back in May 2001. In 2009, nearly 40,000 filmmakers made 3,000 films in 75 cities.

This is the first time the competition is to be held in South Africa! For more info, or to find out how you can participate, visit the website http://www.48hourfilm.com/johannesburg/
