African Dreamtime Live

African Dreamtime Live

African Dreamtime is the brainchild of Pops Mohamed and was brought to life two years ago. The whole idea behind the concept was to bring together the top local musicians who have proven to be frontrunners in their respective genres and fuse the sounds together in order to create an original fresh sound which would move anyone who speaks the language of music.

The first phase of this concept was called The Millennium Experience, featuring Femi Koya who took charge of the saxophone and flute. This duo travelled far and wide around South Africa capturing the loyalty of an assortment of music lovers. A year ago the duo expanded with Ashish Joshi, who plays the table as well as Poorvi Bhana, who plays the sitar. The Millennium Experience made their first debut performance at The Orbit where fans were blown away and the rest is history.

Phase two was when Pops Mohamed jammed with; internationally acclaimed guitarist Steve Newman a well known bass guitarist, Lucas Senyatso South Africa’s favourite master percussionist Tlale Makhene, world music percussionist Mabi Thobejane as well as Femi Koya. Looking at his assembly of artists Pops Mohamed felt like his dream had finally come to life and so the name African Dreamtime came to life.

Join them this Saturday night at The Home of Jazz.
