Pantry Market and Cocktails
It’s Cocktail Hour! See Diageo’s World Class Competition Finalists in action at The Keyes Pantry Market on 29 June.
Just like the Keyes Pantry Market encourages people to care about what they eat, The the Diageo World Class Competition focuses on making people care about what, where and how to drink.
Founded in 2009, Diageo’s World Class Competition takes place in more than 60 countries, and has upheld, taught, and roused more than 250,000 bartenders through its educational programme.
The World Class Bartender of the Year rivalry unites the very best of the bartending fraternity from around the globe and puts them through rounds of rigorous competition to ultimately be crowned the world’s number one bartender.
This year the fourth challenge of the competition’s National Finals will take place at the Keyes Pantry Market. In this pre-prepared challenge, the Top 6 Bartenders will create two drinks using seasonal roots vegetables and winter fruits, sourced, of course, from The Pantry Market, and using top brands Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray, Talisker, Ketel One Vodka and Bulleit Bourbon.
These finalists will vie for the ultimate prize of competing at the Global Finals to be hosted in Glasgow later this year.
To add to the excitement, Diageo World Class Competition will be offering free cocktail masterclasses to Keyes Pantry Market visitors throughout the day. Try your hand at mixing your own classic cocktails and learn the basics so you can elevate the drinks occasion in your own home.
The classes will focus on a classic cocktail featuring Tanqueray Nº TEN gin. Watch Keyes Art Mile social media pages for more info or come and find us on the day in the World Class Pop Up Space on street level.
