Pigalle - An incredible treat

Pigalle in Melrose Arch is quite possibly the best restaurant i have been to in South Africa. I would not make this statement lightly. This place in incredible. However, you'll pay a pretty penny for this delightful experience. This place is not for the faint of heart or the light of pocket...

Dinner started off with a couple of cocktails and a smoke. We sat in the smoking section at my insistance. Amazingly, the smoking section didn't smell,as it usually does, like an old man's armpit.
For starters, my friend had the most amazing Pear and Gorgonzola soup. Out of this world!! Creamy and rich and impossible to finish with a main course on its way. I decided to have Oysters with lime and chilli dressing for starters. If oysters are your thing, this is the perfect starter.

For mains, we had Seared Tuna with Sesame Seeds, Teriyaki dressing and Tempura Veg. Wow! The tuna was encrusted in sesame seeds and seared to perfection. The veggies were light and crispy and not too oily. I had the Shellfish Platter for one which included baby lobster, prawns and langoustines in lemon butter. Delicious! I ordered it with stirfried veggies which were lovely and flavoursome.

Dessert was shared between us. Fair enough, this restaurant ain't cheap but the portions are HUGE! We chose the Pistachio Mille-Feulles which is Puff pastry filled with a pistachio cream. Heaven on a plate!!! But so rich. After all the delicious food, we couldn't even finish the dessert between the two of us.

The service was amazing, the ambience is lovely and food was a league above most. When you're feeling rich and want to spoil someone, this is the place to go.
