Checking out the Nan Hua Buddhist Temple

This Valentine's Day, the man and I decided to spent it at the Chinese New year celebrations at Nan Hua Buddhist Temple in Bronkhorstspruit. Not your traditional Valentine's Day (not to mention the fact that his mother came along) but it was a pretty cool experience. We ate some pretty crazy vegetarian Chinese food and browsed around the stalls which were selling everything from samurai swords to insense and bindhis. Ok, maybe 'browsed' is the wrong word. We really just got dragged along by the massive crowd. To say it was busy, is an under-statement.
Although this is only a once-a-year event (duh!), you can visit the temple every day on the week from 9am to 5pm except Mondays. It's a really beautiful temple and worth checking out if you are into that kind of thing. On Sundays they serve a vegetarian lunch in the dining hall for visiters who would like to partake. Otherwise there is a coffee shop, museum and a curio shop too along with the temple itself. And the good news  is it will be quiet and empty unlike our experience on Sunday. Seriously, it's a spectacular, spiritual place. Go on, do something different this Sunday, be kind to animals, and go have lunch at Nan Hua.
