Goldfish In the park...

Gsus! where did all the people go?? i look up and realise that weare some of the last people on the field. I was walking around andbumped into old friends from "back in the day "who somehow managed to sneak in 3 bottles of fine Russian vodka , any scent or taste of alcohol was completely blotted out by cream soda, it was hot and two cups become seven and you get my drift.

An hour earlier 10 000* people were jumping up and down like school girls on crack to the sound of Goud Fisse. It was simply awesome. Goldfish are truly an international quality act.  It's totally mesmerising that two guys from Cape Town and an MC can attract a crowd of over 7 000 white kids into a park in Emmerentia.

The production series is the vision of Oppikoppi Productions and has been made a reality by the progressive thinking of the Old Mutual brand. I can't over-credit the production company and brand because what they doing is having a positive effect on our city. We need public spaces in Joburg and even more, we need the public in the spaces. Every month there is different production that is aimed at a different crowd including live Jjazz events, Afrikaans gigs, classical music and bands like Freshlyground.

Anyway, the Goldfish event was a massive success which bodes well for upcoming events organised by Oppokoppi Productions and Old Mutual. The sound was excellent, it was well organised and there were no crime issues that i could pick up on. The weather miraculously not only behaved, but provided great service as the hot sun was mostly sheltered by the clouds. People were having an incredible time. The bar was a bietjie crowded and busy but as long as you bought in bulk it was managable.
What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday!

*one of the Oppikoppie members informed me that they estimate 10 000 people at the park, my estimation where 7000..
