Window on Africa's Past
18/02/10
An exhibition entitled "Window on Africa's past" opened last week at the Origins Centre is worth a visit. It offers "a unique and exciting opportunity to see, feel and understand the very beginning of human imagination". It explores five main themes, starting with the basic description of rock art, distribution of the art in Africa, who the artists were, what the art means and how you can participate in conserving this priceless heritage. "While we may know how our ancestors lived and what they ate; rock art is the only means left to tell us how our ancestors thought and how they saw and portrayed their world." The centre is open every day from 9am to 5pm. The exhibition closes on 31 March.
