Voetsek Had Us Rocking For Funds
Belinda discovers that tequila and bands put the fun in fundraiser
Instead of a stuffy suit and tie gala dinner vibe, or bleeding heart speeches, Voetsek hosts an annual animal welfare fundraiser that sees local musicians and music lovers coming together to make something great happen for our furry companions.
This year's event was hosted at The Bohemian on St Patrick's Day (17th March for those living under a rock), and hopefully the luck of the Irish smiled on the organisers as they looked to raise much needed funds for Wetnose Animal Rescue and Husky Rescue. It certainly looked that way, as plenty of people flocked to The Bohemian to watch a screening of Punk in Africa, which kicked off proceedings, followed by performances by great bands such as Spoonerman, Ramblin' Bones and Wonderboom, to name but a few.
Seventy bucks got you access to this great line up (and a really cute Voetsek! button badge) along with the warm fuzzy feeling that comes with doing something charitable - and too many tequilas! The pile of donated food and blankets looked a bit sad, but hopefully the money from the door will go a long way towards making a difference in the lives of these animals.
