Warm Up Your Winter at Momo Baohaus
While the beautiful Momo Baohaus has been gracing the Greenside strip for about 8 months already, it still manages to be fully booked, day in and day out. There is a reason that ‘burgers swarm, bottles of wine underarm, to this warmly lit and intimate space.
If you’ve been, you’ll know what I mean when I say that Momo is addictive. I exaggerate not when I say that I dreamt of their Crispy Calamari regularly after having it for the first time. And I spent the weeks following getting my fix through dinners with friends, or with Uber-Eatsing their noodles right to my desk.
Off I went last night, with a brother and a mother in tow. I have been eating chilli for as long as I can remember, and so it was with spice on my mind that I ordered our meals. We, obvs, got the crispy calamari which, after a squeeze of lemon juice, is almost better than sex, the Deep Sea Bao, with tempura prawns peeking out from their steamed bun home and teasing us immeasurably, were next. Followed by the the Kung Pow Bao and the Szechuan bowl. The bowls.. My god the bowls. Think fresh noodles (although you can also get a base of wokked greens or jasmine rice), crunchy vegetables, little pools of sauce in which the chicken or tofu or beef rest in, and a ramen egg. Think perfection.
Momo doesn't have a liquor license as of yet, but this stops absolutely no one from adding some booze to their evening. Last night there bottles of Champagne and wine flowing, and with no corkage fee, you're in for a stupidly reasonable evening.
