Chocolate junkies beware; you'll be back on the brown stuff when you hit this store!
Easter is all about chocolate, right? It is for this Chocolatarian anyway, and so the upcoming holiday seemed like a good excuse to pop in to The Chocolate Tier at Casalinga in Muldersdrift. Although to be fair, I never really need an excuse for chocolate, especially when it's as good as theirs is.
The Chocolate Tier specialises in decadent, hand-made truffles and they are sinfully delicious. They do, of course, also stock seasonal products at this time of year and loads of other yummy goodies too. Gugu, the lady behind the counter dishing out the chocolatey goodness, is so sweet you'd swear she's made of the stuff herself. And she admits that she has no resistance when it comes to chocolate - a kindred spirit then and one with a dangerous job for a chocoholic! She's more than happy to help me choose a selection of truffles (I try to show some restraint, even though I just want to inhale them all), while explaining that the shop not only sells to junkies such as myself, but also offers delivery to corporates and people hosting special occasions, as well as supplying diners and revellers at Casalinga with the good stuff.
They also host chocolate tasting events, a definite addition to my to-do list. On mornings when the room isn't booked, you can relax in the adjacent lounge with a cup of coffee and your delicious purchases, and as I gaze out at the beautiful scenery and inhale the heady aroma of the best chocolate I've had in ages, I consider that I may just have found paradise. Mmmm.
Where? Casalinga, Rocky Ridge Road (off Beyers Naude Drive), Muldersdrift.
