The Troyeville Hotel
Set on the edge of the inner city in the historic neighbourhood of Troyville, the Troyville Hotel is a legendary and iconic part of Johannesburg. The cuisine served in the Pink Flamingo restaurant is traditional Mozambican and Portuguese, and the restaurant’s prawns and peri peri chicken are ranked among the best in the city. You can also visit the sports bar for a pint or two, and the glass house section overlooks the dramatic views of Hillbrow.
It’s a JHBLive favourite and highly recommended by all who visit.
When brought in fresh the hake is excellent, and the chicken livers are a must. Weekends are the best for a family or friend’s brunch and lunch.
They have great beer on tap – it’s a secret spot for rugby fans to go before and after games at Ellis Park.
If you like it a lot and find it difficult to leave, the hotel’s rooms are modern and stylish apartment-type suites.
